About
NI 2021 is the official conference of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) nursing informatics special interest group. In Australia, NI 2021 is presented by the Australasian Institute of Digital Health (AIDH).
AIDH has a strong and growing nursing informatics membership, represented by the Nursing. Midwifery (N.M) Community of Practice. Nursing. Chair Welcome
On behalf of the organising committee, I would like to invite you to join your nursing and midwifery colleagues for the 15th international congress in nursing informatics. You will connect with global leaders in nursing informatics, learn about latest developments and trends in digital health and find out what’s happening within nursing workforces in the digital era.
Be engaged as we talk about “Working together” – working with each other, with patients, and with systems and data. Whatever your involvement, as delegate, speaker or event partner, we are greatly looking forward to meeting you at NI 2021.
With warm regards,

Theme
Nursing and midwifery in the digital age shows nursing professionals as frontline users of digital solutions.
In the world of digitally driven, patient-centred healthcare, nurses and midwives are “nurse navigators” increasingly engaging with patients and consumers on health data and information to:
- advocate for patients
- educate patients work
- in multi-disciplinary teams
There are three priority areas for NI 2021:
- Working together – nurses working with each other
- with patients and
- with systems and data
The NI 2021 theme Nursing and midwifery in the digital age shows nursing professionals as frontline users of digital solutions. NI 2021 will ask:
- What is the role of nurses and midwives in the digital age?
- What is the pathway for emerging nurse leaders to move forward in their careers?
- How will we enable a digitally aware workforce?
NI 2021 will consider key emerging topics around career pathways; technology such as artificial intelligence; ethics; digital platforms; digital downtime; data analytics in primary care; indigenous health and more.
